The therapist
Three decades of care,
made personal.
Chaim Backman has spent more than thirty years helping people recover, rebuild, and stay strong. Today he brings that experience to wherever his clients are: a living room, a hospital ward, a rehabilitation facility.
Chaim Backman graduated from Hunter College's Physical Therapy program in 1996. He worked briefly at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, where he specialized in caring for post–cardiac surgery patients. In 1998 he opened his own private practice in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, serving as the community physical therapist, seeing patients in the office, and making home visits for those too sick to come in.
Over recent years, the trend in health care has been to discharge patients home sooner than ever before. These patients tend to be quite weak and deconditioned. To meet that challenge, Chaim designed and developed an intensive in-home rehabilitation system that can be applied to any type of post-hospital discharge, one that has proven to restore patients to their prior level of function.
Over the past several years, Chaim has specialized in the private care of seriously ill and homebound patients, including those on ventilators and other forms of life-support equipment.
Today he brings that same intensive, personal standard of care to wherever his clients are, working alongside the therapists, physical and occupational, who practise to that standard with him. The practice is based in New York, New Jersey and Miami, and he travels wherever he is needed. He speaks English, Hebrew, and Yiddish.

No clinic, no waiting room, no rushing to the next appointment. Each session is unhurried, focused, and built entirely around your goals.
Care where life happens
Treating you where you actually are, whether that is your home, a hospital ward, or a rehabilitation facility, means treating the real thing: your stairs, your routine, your environment. Progress carries directly into daily life.
Expertise without ego
Three decades of experience delivered with patience and warmth. The goal is never to impress; it is to help you move and live better.
